Tutorial : Ohanae for macOS

Introduction (Mac Store/Menu Bar App)


Ohanae sharing app for macOS is made up of two apps — Sandbox app (download from Mac Store) and Menu Bar app (download from Ohanae.com). Menu Bar app is a complementary app for the Sandbox app. Sandbox app manages cloud files through Cloud API, Menu Bar app has a browser plugin (1-Tap Login), local secure drive (Invicta), and finder extension (if you have cloud files synced to your device).

Make sure you are logged in to the Sanbox app before using the Menu Bar app.

Ohanae sharing app for macOS is easy to use - create, share, and keep files securely in file sync and sharing services (Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, Salesforce Files and Libraries), while permitting a secure and familiar access from any device running – Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows.

You may choose to get your files on demand from the cloud or work with local files in the cloud sync folders. Ohanae is natively integrated into Finder. It is built right into the way you already work.

Installing Mac Store App

Download from App Store using this link here.

Upon successful installation, open the Ohanae sharing app.

Getting Started

New Users

  1. Click on Register to sign up for a new account.
  2. Key in your personal information as seen below.
  3. Click on the Register button and continue. An account verification email will be sent to you. Do check the junk mail folder if you do not recieve the email.

  4. Click on the Account Activation Link in the email to activate your account. You will receive an email confirming your account is activated.
  5. Great!! You have successfully created an Ohanae Account.

  6. Now your device is exclusively linked to your account. Navigate back to your Ohanae sharing app, enter your username and passphrase and Login.

New Users (Email Invitation)
  1. You will recieve an invitation email from an existing Ohanae user. Click on the activation link to activate your account.

  2. Copy and paste the username and one-time passphrase given to you in the Invitation Email.

  3. Change your passphrase.

  4. Ohanae will activate your device and sync your account information.

  5. For Enterprise users, sign in to Salesforce Customer Org using your enterprise credentials.

Existing Users

  1. If this is your first time using the Ohanae sharing app on this device, enter your username and passphrase. Click Login.

  2. Ohanae will activate your device and sync your account information.

  3. For Enterprise users, sign in to Salesforce Customer Org using your enterprise credentials.

Congratulations!! You have successfully signed in and configured the Ohanae sharing app on your Mac. You can now protect both your data in the cloud and the credentials used to access that data.

Installing Menu Bar App

  1. Initiate menu bar app from Ohanae Mac Store app.


  3. If Menu Bar app is not installed, you will see the screen below. By clicking the Continue button, you will be redirected to Ohanae.com.

  4. Download Menu Bar app. See below.

  6. After completing the download, run the installation package (Ohanae.pkg) and complete the installation process.

    It is recommended that you use the default settings during installation.

  7. During the installation, Ohanae will prompt you to install the Ohanae Browser extension for Safari. For an optimized 1-Tap Login experience, please click on Install.

  8. Note: For Chrome, download the browser extension from the Chrome Store. For Mozilla Firefox, download from the Mozilla store.
  9. After installation, you may run the Menu Bar app from Ohanae Mac Store app’s menu as shown below. Please make sure your Ohanae Mac Store app is running.


  11. Input your passphrase and you are ready to use the Finder's capabilities for Cloud Sync Folders and Secure Drive (Invicta).


Clear Cache and Sign Out

Sign Out
  1. To sign out, click on the Settings button to access Security Preferences.         

  2. Click on the button highlighted below.

  3. If you have Ohanae Menu Bar app installed, config files will be erased.

  4. User can also logout from the Menu Bar app by clicking the Settings button, and select ‘Clear and Sign Out’ option. The config files will be erased upon exit.

Passwords created by Ohanae are accessible across all registered devices owned by you.

Adding New Domain

1-Tap Login empowers you to create unique strong passwords for your online accounts. Passwords are not stored, they are dynamically reproduced and erased locally from your device when not in use.

  1. Click on the "+" button at the top right corner of the screen.
  2. A page appears to fill in your login details. Enter the application name of your choice and username. (eg. Twitch, Gmail, Amazon).

  3. Note: Each field has a maximum character length.

    • Application Name
      Max length : 100
    • Username
      Max Length : 90
    • Password
      Max Length : 1000
    • Website URL (Valid URL)
      Max Length : 1024
  4. The system will generate a strong password based on the parameters (user-defined) or you may manually enter a password of your choice.
  5. Click Generate or Save to complete the process.

View Password

  1. From the Password Management page, select the desire application and username from a list of aliases registered under that domain. The password will be copied to the clipboard and ready for copy/paste.

  2. Click on the button to view your password.

Adding a New Account to an Existing Domain

  1. On the username column, click on the ‘+’ to add new user.
  2. Fill in login details.
  3. Click Generate or Save to complete the process.

Change Password

  1. Hover to the desired account. Click on the pencil icon and a pop up would appear.
  2. Click ‘Change Password’ and follow on-screen instructions.
  3. Click Generate or Save to complete the process.

Password Management

Edit Account:
Click the ‘Edit Account’ icon to edit the username or password. The username should be identical to the actual username at the point of account creation from the online service.

Share Password:
You may share your passwords with anyone. Click the "Share" icon and enter the recipient's Ohanae username. A "shared" icon will appear next to the username.

Rollback Password:
In the case that you want to revert to a password previously generated by Ohanae, click the ‘Revert password’ icon.

Delete Account:
Click the ‘Delete icon’ to delete an account.

1-Tap Login Browser Extension

Sign in using 1-Tap Login

Make sure Ohanae Mac Store app and Menu Bar app are running when using 1-Tap Login browser extension.

Before you can use this feature, your password must first be created by Ohanae sharing app.

  1. From your preferred browser, go to the desire website, click on the username field, and select the desired username from the dropdown menu.
  2. The password associated with this account will be dynamically reproduced, and automatically inserted into the password field.

Change Password
  1. Make sure your browser extension is activated on your preferred browser, and the Ohanae Mac Store and Menu Bar apps are running.
  2. Login to your online account from your browser. Navigate to Change Password.
  3. Enter your current password if required by the website.
  4. Click on the New Password field. The 1-Tap Login prompt will appear. Click on "new password?" at the bottom of the prompt.

  5. If the account is not previously created by Ohanae 1-Tap Login, select "This is a new domain" and enter the desire domain name.

  6. On the next screen, type in your username. This should be the same username you use when logging in to the website.

    Note: If this account exists in Ohanae Sharing app: Select the Select Username option to simply choose your username from the list, and click Next.

  7. Select your password criteria, make sure you meet all the requirements of this particular website. Click Finish to generate a new password.

  8. Click on the SAVE button to save this password. Password reproduced is inserted automatically into the New Password field.

  9. Click on the Confirm Password field, and select "confirm password?" on the bottom of the 1-Tap Login prompt.
